Instagram has it all, e.g., losers, creepers, and douche bags

November 4, 2016

Social media has changed the way the world communicates, and the fitness industry is no exception. Social media has opened up many doors for opportunity, allowing individuals to start businesses, network, and keep in touch with family and friends.  However, social media also has an extremely dark side.  It allows people to see inside the minds of others, up close and personal; for many social media users it’s not flattering, which is exactly why I only use social media for business and news purposes. I got tired of seeing the negative side of people’s personalities.  If you’re in the least bit a douchebag, loser, creeper, coffee drinker, or boobarella in the real world, it will ooze it’s way onto social media in spades.

I have often wondered why so many people act so inappropriately on social media, posting things they would never do in public.  Social media sites like Instagram satisfy an ill-suited need for recognition, and if it weren't for the audience within the sanctity of our PC’s or other devices, most wouldn’t indulge in such desperate attempts to claim an identity.

What people need to remember is you’re not communicating with real people, you’re interacting with profiles.  And in the fitness industry, you’re judging yourself by an overwhelming number of people who photo-edit, and lead exceedingly fake lives.

Though the following article is not fitness related per se, it hits the nail on the head for annoying behavior on Instagram.
